MY JAVASCRIPT JOURNEY

JavaScript is the most popular programming language in the world.

As a beginner in web development, I had to get knowledge in this

wanna know how how my learning journey unfolded??? ok na…………………………

A misleading concept I had as a beginner in web development was that I could just learn by just watching tutorials without practicing.

W3schools is the platform I use to gain knowledge on programming languages with JavaScript inclusive.

Watching a JavaScript tutorial for 7 hours, I thought I had everything I needed as far as  JavaScript  is concerned. Oops! I was wrong in deed.

More details about this?? ooh no!!! I won’t take much of your time.

My understanding of this language began when I started up with creating a login form and validating with JavaScript (sounds simple, but this was actually interesting, getting to put my tutorial knowledge into practice). Actually, this is where I started understanding the power of JavaScript in web development.

Taking up other mini projects,  I got to learn a lot more about JavaScript.

Knowlege I have acquired so far

1) What is JavaScript actually?

JavaScript, abbreviated as “js” can be defined as a programming language for creating dynamic updated content, controlling multimedia content, animating images, and anything else you can think of. Well, maybe not everything, but you can do a lot with just a few lines of JavaScript code.

Code written in HTML only creates static content.  JavaScript comes in to make this content dynamic.

JavaScript has many frameworks like:  Angular JS, React JS, Vue JS, Node JS, Ember JS, etc.

2) Top Features I got to learn about JavaScript

 i) Validating users input

JavaScript  is very important in form validation on the client side before sending to the server. Checking for correctness of information, e.g. an empty field or if the data entered doesn’t match a given criteria.

ii) Generating HTML content and elements

JavaScript allows us to create content into html like links, text, images, tables, etc.

It also allows creation of html tags with the document.createElement(“element”) syntax, which is usually important in looping.

iii) Simple client- side calculations

With JavaScript, we can perform dynamic calculations on the browser, and the browser doesn’t need to ask for data from the server each time. This is useful when the browser has to perform multiple calculations and connecting to the server would be time consuming.

iv) Platform Independent

JavaScript runs on multiple platforms like windows, macintosh, and other netscape supported systems

v) Dates and time

Unlike other programming languages, JavaScript has a built in function to automatically handle dates and time using methods like .getDate().

Conclusively, JavaScript is wonderful!!! And I must say with all the knowledge I have acquired in this, it is a great push up as far as pursuing my tech career is concerned.

I’m still a beginner though, and still in the learning process.

Lesson: A developer doesn’t learn by “just reading or watching tutorials” I bet you at the end you find yourself empty.

Learning JavaScript and other programming languages as well entails taking up mini projects and trying to execute with the said language.

Consistent coding is the key!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
